Our new CPM curriculum relies on students working in teams. The teacher is responsible for guiding and supporting the students. The students are responsible for making sure that they are actively involved in their learning. In order to help ensure a success, students will work in teams with the following roles.
In addition to performing the tasks required of you, there are a few rules that need to be followed to help your teams be as successful as possible.
Discuss questions with your team before calling the teacher over.
Within your team, keep your conversation on math.
Work as a team. Make sure you help anyone on your team who asks. Don't work ahead or leave anyone behind.
Here are a few more hints that will help you be successful.
Always explain and justify your ideas (give statements and reasons). There are multiple ways to solve a problem, so listen to your teammates and be open to other methods.
Helping your teammates does NOT mean giving answers. Instead, give hints and ask questions. The goal is for everyone to UNDERSTAND the material.
Keep your work area clean (clear off the table), so that you can see all of your teammate's papers.
